6 SEO KILLERS...
Sometimes good intentions can later harm all the hard work you have done before. This is the same with SEO; you can build up a solid stream of clicks and traffic and then suddenly notice that you are losing traffic and sales at an alarming rate. This drop in revenue can affect you much if this is your only means of income. You may want to have a look at the following....
6 things you might be doing wrong...
1. The wrong Content.
It is quite a unique trick in finding the balance between what Search Engines view as the right kind of content for you site and still keeping the content real so that consumers understand your site. You don’t have to be a scientist to figure this out. Keep it simple and to the point. If you are selling bricks write about brick and how your bricks will benefit you clients. Write for people...they are the one who’s buying you product.
2. The wrong Keywords.
Basically Content and Keywords goes together...they are like a matching pair. When writing always keep in mind what the matching Keywords could be for a specific article. The rule is “Keep is simple!” Search Engines will also try to matching up the Content and Keywords. The better they fit together, the better the score of your site.
3. Cutting Corners.
There are many webmaster tricks out there but they can also cost you your ranking. Sometime Search Engines do not tolerate these tricks and the punishment could be being dropped from the index. There is no easy way to success...the only way to the top is by sheer perseverance and faith. Just keep on doing what you are doing now. Do business the best way you can.
4. Not knowing enough.
Sometimes it is better to admit defeat than riding a dead horse...Do you really know what you are doing or just fluking it? If you want your online business to succeed you need to ask yourself these two Questions. (1) Am I capable of doing the job? (2) Won’t it be better if I pay someone to do the Webdesign for me?
Once you have the questions to these you can precede with SEO. Remember being stubborn will cost you money in the future.
5. Same Meta tags for all your pages.
If all you content on all your pages are the same I would say keep all the Meta data the same but as we all know most web pages are different in content. So, fit your Meta tags to fit each individual page. Also if you make changes to a page, revise the old Meta tags. Keep your hand on this; you don’t old content floating around on the web.
6. Old content and broken links.
Make a good habit of doing checks on your website. For example each Monday do a routine site test. Starting from the Home page right through to the Contact us page. Do not assume that everything is alright as bugs do sometimes creep up. This can catch you off guard and might cost you a sale.
Also delete any content which might be of no relevance. If you want to delete a page, I would suggest putting a redirect or some text telling the visitor that the product they are looking for aren’t available anymore. As Search engine most probably have indexed all your site pages by now, it won’t be good idea just to delete them. If you do your visitor will get 404 error messages and will reflect badly on your business.
