How to shoot yourself in the foot.

No, No’s with SEO.

View more of these kinds of articles…Read more!

I know that SEO sometimes seems so tiresome and laborious but without it your domain gets lost in the web. Let me explain it this way: Seo is like finding the right location for you brick and mortar business. Like they say “Location, Location, Location” is the keyword to your success. It is logical that you would want to find the best store front possible so that you can have free traffic.

“Feet is very important in any physical business...they bring the guy with the money to you!”

At least with a physical location you can choose where you want be seen, get an address. How do you do this with an online business? Yes, you do get an address, your Domain name but where is that address. You can’t walk over to it; you can’t drive past it in the street. How does someone find you on the web, if they haven’t heard of you before? Just as feet are important for the survival for a physical business, so are clicks on your online website. I said it before and I will say it again, “You can have the best business plan, the best product and way with customer, but if there are no customers...you do not make money!” It is as simple as that.

So, you need to implement the right kind of SEO to make it work for you. You have spent a lot of time getting to where you are right now. You just don’t quit and give up. You will have to if your online business does not make the cut.

6 SEO KILLERS...

Sometimes good intentions can later harm all the hard work you have done before. This is the same with SEO; you can build up a solid stream of clicks and traffic and then suddenly notice that you are losing traffic and sales at an alarming rate. This drop in revenue can affect you much if this is your only means of income. You may want to have a look at the following....

6 things you might be doing wrong...

1. The wrong Content.

It is quite a unique trick in finding the balance between what Search Engines view as the right kind of content for you site and still keeping the content real so that consumers understand your site. You don’t have to be a scientist to figure this out. Keep it simple and to the point. If you are selling bricks write about brick and how your bricks will benefit you clients. Write for people...they are the one who’s buying you product.

2. The wrong Keywords.

Basically Content and Keywords goes together...they are like a matching pair. When writing always keep in mind what the matching Keywords could be for a specific article. The rule is “Keep is simple!Search Engines will also try to matching up the Content and Keywords. The better they fit together, the better the score of your site.

3. Cutting Corners.

There are many webmaster tricks out there but they can also cost you your ranking. Sometime Search Engines do not tolerate these tricks and the punishment could be being dropped from the index. There is no easy way to success...the only way to the top is by sheer perseverance and faith. Just keep on doing what you are doing now. Do business the best way you can.

4. Not knowing enough.

Sometimes it is better to admit defeat than riding a dead horse...Do you really know what you are doing or just fluking it? If you want your online business to succeed you need to ask yourself these two Questions. (1) Am I capable of doing the job? (2) Won’t it be better if I pay someone to do the Webdesign for me?

Once you have the questions to these you can precede with SEO. Remember being stubborn will cost you money in the future.

5. Same Meta tags for all your pages.

If all you content on all your pages are the same I would say keep all the Meta data the same but as we all know most web pages are different in content. So, fit your Meta tags to fit each individual page. Also if you make changes to a page, revise the old Meta tags. Keep your hand on this; you don’t old content floating around on the web.

6. Old content and broken links.

Make a good habit of doing checks on your website. For example each Monday do a routine site test. Starting from the Home page right through to the Contact us page. Do not assume that everything is alright as bugs do sometimes creep up. This can catch you off guard and might cost you a sale.

Also delete any content which might be of no relevance. If you want to delete a page, I would suggest putting a redirect or some text telling the visitor that the product they are looking for aren’t available anymore. As Search engine most probably have indexed all your site pages by now, it won’t be good idea just to delete them. If you do your visitor will get 404 error messages and will reflect badly on your business.

“You are the master of your own ship…if things go wrong you are to blame.”

Make the right choice when building your Website.

Is Php better than Html...?

Basically I would say it is a matter of choice. Yes, I would really think about using Php when you want to run a Social network site or a blog site but in general you can get away with launching a Great Looking Html site. The trick in building a website is making sure that you know what you want and what you are willing to spend.

Most CMS site (Content Management Systems...Read more WIKI!) is usually built with Php code. The now popular Joomla and Wordpress cms scripts are best when you are regularly changing your content. With a Backend control panel it gives you must more control over your website. You essentially don’t need to know any coding to create a nice looking site. Also a nice extra feature is when you want to change the look and feel of your new site; you can just upload a template you downloaded from the internet. The drawback of this type of site is that it loads a fraction slower. The unique feature of Php is that it loads the whole script onto your computer. It then just has to download picture and module content from the host server.

HTML built site loads faster but in most cases it does not look that great. You normally get a plain basic text based site. I would choose this if you want an informative website. You can though look for a HTML website with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets ~ Read here WIKI!) which will improve the look hundred fold. Css tells the script the layout and size and placement of picture or scripts of the site, with this you can now add layer on the basic html site. The drawback is you need to have a general knowledge of html coding and if you don’t know how to do this you need to pay someone like a webmaster to make changes, which could be costly.

The best starting point is finding a GOOD HOSTING company which will avoid a lot of Hassel in the future. Then you need to decide if you want to attempt building your new website yourself or Pay someone to do it for you. Price might be a factor for you but remember do not be cheap on your site because this can affect your future sales if you end up with a site which really doesn’t do your business any justice. If you are not ready for this step, wait until you are in a position where you can afford this. Do your homework before you start. Look around on the web and see what other sites in the same industry look like and what content they have on their pages.

What is the importance of a Great website...?

http://www.host200.co.za

What is all the fuss about owning a great looking website? How can this affect your online sales? It might not be important to you but anyone of your future site visitors might have something else to say. Yes, it can be costly to obtain a proper designed website but you really can’t function without it.

“Basically, a well constructed website reflects much about your outlook on business. It says a lot about the professionalism of your SERVICE you claim to provide...”

Not all future clients will be phased about the look of your site but more than 50% of all hits on your site will definitely be judged by harsh scrutiny...In the first few seconds of viewing a page, visitors will decide if want to do business with you or not.

How many times have you come across a website with a poor site layout and theme? Even thought they might have been able to give a better service than the next guys on the web; just because they had a bad site, you kept on looking for a site which makes you feel at ease.

Please, remember that the first contact between you and new customers are your website. This site represents you in so many ways you might have not have thought of. The changes are that if your website gives a feel of professionalism and comes across as clean, you will get more business...

There are so many features to look at when creating your new site...

· The cost of Webdesign

· The layout and Theme

· The look and feel – Does it bring feelings of trust in new site visitor?

· Relative content- Is the articles on the webpage relevant to what you are selling?

· Loads fast- How long does your site take to load?

· The right PRICE of your product. The price is important but if site are new on the web, there is no word of mouth or any past track record, you up for a surprise. You won’t have the sales you expected. People do not always goes for the cheapest price. If visitors don’t trust your site on first glance, they will go for a more well know company instead. People are afraid of losing their money, especially on the web.
